100 artworks in the gardens of the Garden Hotels
Visitors have the opportunity to discover works by 30 Swiss artists at 21 locations. The artworks were specifically curated for the respective hotel gardens and harmonize with their chosen surroundings. This has created a unique open-air gallery in the hotel gardens, open to all interested visitors.
In the garden of Villa Carona, you will encounter two impressive double figures in bronze by the artist Alois Hermann, which blend harmoniously into the Mediterranean surroundings.
Alois Hermann is an independent artist who has worked primarily with wood since the 1980s. His sculptures are created through a direct, physical process—often using a chainsaw—and exist in a dynamic tension between figuration and abstraction. A characteristic feature of his work is that the cuts and surface structures remain deliberately visible, making the creative process traceable.
Some of his wooden works are cast in bronze, transferring the original expressive power of the material into a permanent form. This is also the case with the two double figures in our garden, which, through their presence and calmness, create a special connection between art and garden.
